E-Bike Battery Arrived

The e-bike battery was delivered today by a courier. 48V, 13Ah, 624 Wt. There was quite an epopee with it. I was ordering it planning then to buy a 1 KWt hub wheel. But after ordering I noticed what I had not notice before, and that was that it suitable for 750 Wt motors maximum. So, I decided to cancel the order. Got in the chat and told the guy it was no good for me. He stared giving me all kind of crap, like referring me to a team, who would get in touch with me within 2-3 working days. By that time the battery would be shipped, so I pressed him for specific actions. Finally he said that he would put a stop on shipping. That was all I could get out of him, so I just let it be at that.

But for insurance, I decided to ask my bank to cancel the payment, since the payment was in the reserved status. This guy started giving me all types of run arounds too, and finally said that they would have to get the seller give them permission to cancel the payment. That was of not too much help, so I let it go at that and figured I would just refuse to accept the delivery and have them send it back. I would be loosing some money on the two way shipment, but not the 170 or thereabouts euros.

But then I decided to do some more research on these hub motors and discovered that people were quite happy with even 350 Wt ones, and figured that a 500 Wt would be quite alright. So, I said, fuck it, I’ll accept the delivery and will buy me a 500 Wt hub motor from the May’s allowance.

And so, I am one step closer to getting a bit more mobile. Because lately riding bicycle has become quite a chore. It’s alright or even stretches or not too steep hills, but there are just too many too steep hills here and pedaling up them takes all the enjoyment out of bicycling. So, I don’t mind pedaling a bit, but hopefully a 500 Wt motor will make getting up steep hills less of a chore. We’ll see.

Here is a video of my unpacking it.
